Each facet of this home is carefully chosen to contribute to the overall feeling of ease that characterizes lakeside living. To ensure that the fixtures harmonize with this vibe, BDR brought in Infusion by Etna. This Grand Rapids-based company supplied all the plumbing fixtures, from tubs to showers … and of course, the kitchen sink.
“We work very closely with BDR, and have been involved in the Grand Rapids Magazine Design Home project for the last three years,” shares Trish Keyzer, showroom manager at Infusion by Etna. For this special home, sales consultant Tonya VandeBunte found just the right products to balance the home’s design, as well as the homeowners’ needs.
Working with the team at BDR and the home’s designer, Julie Holmes, VandeBunte contributed her expertise on product styles. The stunning result is fixtures that carry the beach cottage theme throughout the home.
Likewise, BDR knew that the home’s appliances would need to match the prevailing tone. So, they turned to Gerrit’s Appliance in Grand Rapids to supply all the kitchen and laundry appliances. “This is the second year we’re involved with a Design Home project,” says sales and marketing manager Curt Geers. “We currently supply many of the homes BDR constructs with appliances, and BDR asked us if we would like to be involved with this year’s home.”
It’s clear that Gerrit’s Appliance rose to the challenge. The kitchen, for example, will not feature the stainless steel appliances often seen in new construction. “Instead of the expected stainless, the kitchen appliances will be both striking and colorful,” says Geers. Here, the Viking appliances will impart the kitchen with a bright splash of blue.
Select appliances in the kitchen and the basement bar area will be paneled in wood to match the cabinets. “The appliances will kind of disappear within their setting to make everything look custom,” explains Geers.
As decisions large and small are realized throughout this home, it is clear that each company, each individual, working on this project shares a common goal. And, it takes a great builder to bring a great team together. As Geers remarks, “The challenges for us on this project are pretty limited — due to the quality of the builder.”
